Live Ocean is a 501(c)3 focused on Education and Marine Conservation. After extensive renovations on a generously donated sailboat, Rowena, the Live Ocean crew set sail in April 2011 on the Pacific Ocean Expedition 2011. The Expedition’s goal was to further Live Ocean’s mission to inspire the global community to protect our fragile oceans. During the Winter months, land based educational programs will be led by Live Ocean volunteers.
Live Ocean’s educational programs encourage students to become leaders in a movement to educate the global community that all living things are connected to the oceans, and we must conserve and protect our resources. Participants experience firsthand the wonders of the natural world and our maritime heritage through hands-on activities both onbaord, and onshore.
Live Ocean offers programs aboard Rowena at sea, on daysails, and while in port. Live Ocean also coordinates land based marine conservation service learning projects, such as storm drain stenciling, stream restoration, and beach clean-ups. For more information, look in the menu above, in the Education section.
